The Department of Nursing Sciences organized on April 11, 2019, a conference day entitled “La santé au cœur de la communauté” at the campus of Hadat-Baabda.
As said by Reverend Father Michel Jalakh in his opening address, when people talk about public health, they usually spontaneously think of basic provision of care. Unfortunately, that way of thinking is not only an archaic vision of health; it is also limited. Moreover, from a financial point of view, we have every reason to adopt a more proactive and sustainable vision as all the studies show that placing prevention and health at the heart of the community increases cost-effectiveness.
According to this logic, who better than teachers, educators, and trainers to raise awareness among health professionals, legislators, policy makers, and communities in general? This conference was a good occasion for experts, such as Elie Aaraj (MENAHRA), Rima Shaya and Yara Hamadeh (Minister of Public Health), Hala Najem (SIDC), Lizette Azar (HDF), Grace el-Haddad (Medicals at the Center), and Mona Nehme (UA) to share their knowledge and help us move beyond in order to live better.
