On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of G. Rossini’s death and for the first time, Antonine University Choir took part in the Baalbeck International Festival. In fact, the old and most prestigious cultural Festival in the Middle East in collaboration with Antonine University and the Embassy of Italy in Beirut, paid tribute to the Italian composer by presenting on Friday, July 27, 2018, inside the Bacchus Temple, Stabat Mater, Rossini’s masterpiece of bel canto sacred music and the finale of Verdi’s Requiem “Libera Me”. The concert featured 4 of the world-class soloists: the Lebanese-Canadian soprano Joyce El Khoury, the Italian mezzo Daniella Barcellona, alongside the Italian tenor Paolo Fanale and the Polish bass Krzysztof Baczyk. Fr. Toufic Maatouk conducted the Bucharest Radio Chamber Orchestra as well as Antonine University Choir.
