On September 15, 2001, Antonine University (UA) inaugurated its second campus. Initially established in Zahle–Bekaa, it was later relocated to Nabi Ayla–Zahle on lands owned by the Antonine Order. By establishing its second site in the region, the Order reaffirms its non-sectarian nature and its commitment to decentralization. In doing so, it also salved the “academic wounds” of the people of the Bekaa by enabling them to pursue their higher-education goals, in order to have a positive impact on their communities.
