PEC-G (Undergraduate)
The Brazilian Program for Exchange Students – PEC-G (Undergraduate) offers foreign students free admission vacancies for complete graduation in Brazil. Courses are available in all fields of knowledge, free of charge, and without admission tests. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Education (MEC) coordinate the program, in partnership with the participating Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

Eligibility Criteria
The foreign citizen who fulfills the following requirements will be able to apply for the PEC-G and PEC-PLE Selection Process for the 2025 academic year:
- Not have, on the date of application, dual Brazilian nationality or the right to Brazilian nationality
- Be a national of a country participating in the PEC, residing abroad, and not hold any type of visa or residence permit for Brazil, except a tourist visa
- Be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2025
- Present Statement(s) of Financial Responsibility signed by the financial sponsor(s) that guarantee(s) the funding of their expenses in Brazil throughout the entire study period
- Sign a Statement of Commitment committing to comply with the Program’s rules
- Prove completion of a level equivalent to high school, in a country other than Brazil
- All applicants must prove proficiency in Portuguese language to join the PEC-G. One of the ways to do this is to obtain the Celpe-Bras certificate, the official exam that measures your fluency in Brazilian Portuguese. The tests take place in several countries, including Brazil. If you need the Celpe-Bras certificate to participate in the PEC-G Program and cannot take the exam in your country, you must apply for the Brazilian Program for Exchange Students - Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PEC-PLE), in addition to the PEC-G. As a PEC-PLE student, you will spend your first year in Brazil taking a free Portuguese language and Brazilian culture course to obtain your Celpe-Bras certificate. After obtaining the certificate, you will be able to start your undergraduate course as a PEC-G student.
To apply, the candidate must first complete the pre-application form.
After completing the pre-application form, the candidate must present, between July 22 and August 23, 2024, to the Brazilian diplomatic or consular representation where they will apply, the following documents:
- Original and copy of high school completion certificate or equivalent document, or, in the case of candidates who have not completed high school or equivalent level until the date of application, declaration of likely graduate by the end of 2024
- Original and copy of the academic record with a list of subjects taken and grades obtained during all grades of high school or equivalent level
- Original and copy of the birth certificate or identification document mentioning the parentage, place and date of birth of the candidate and their parents
- Original medical certificate of the candidate’s physical and mental health, issued in 2024, which states whether the candidate suffers from a chronic illness or is receiving any type of treatment
- Original of the Statement(s) of Financial Responsibility duly completed, signed, and dated
- Proof of income of the signatory(ies) that attests to their ability to fulfill the commitment assumed, as per item “d” of item 5.3 of this Notice
- Original and copy of the certificate of approval at Celpe-Bras, in any edition, or proof of application for the edition Celpe-Bras that takes place before January 2025, or certificate of completion of an intermediate level Portuguese language course from a unit within the Instituto Guimarães Rosa (IGR) network
The preliminary result, as well as the list of remaining vacancies and any waiting list for the PEC-G and PEC-PLE 2024 Selection Process (Admission in 2025), will be published starting October 25, 2024, on the DCE/MRE website.
The final result of the PEC-G 2024 Selection Process (Admission in 2025) will be announced after vacancies that may arise due to withdrawals have been filled and will be available starting November 14, 2024, on the DCE/MRE website.
