The Faculty of Information and Communication at Antonine University (UA) is organizing a webinar entitled “Media in Times of Crisis: Practicing Ethical Journalism vs. Getting the Scoop” within “Les Jeudis de l’InfoCom” series. This set of virtual talks aims to keep every participant up to date on the latest trends in the field of communication and widen the horizons of the students, the UA community and the public while instilling in them the love of life-long learning.
This new webinar will highlight the two main arguments brandished by the media, namely freedom of the press and the public’s right to know, in the face of the restrictive tendencies of political authorities. However, ethical questions arise with regard to the recurrent excesses of the media and its fallouts: invasion of victims’ privacy, disinformation, contradictory news, etc. During this online conference, key experts will tackle the various aspects of the matter in order to help attendees understand when journalism is no longer about informing but rather about getting the scoop.
