In collaboration with Splunk and BMW Group, the Faculty of Engineering and TICKET Lab organized a 24-hour Hackathon where 19 teams from 7 universities in Lebanon (UA, AUB, LAU, USJ, LU-Roumieh, NDU, USEK) participated and competed in.
Six teams were pre-selected and offered the opportunity to pursue an internship at BMW Group:
2 teams from UA, 1 team from NDU, 1 team from AUB, 1 team from USJ, and 1 team from LU-Roumieh.
The six teams presented their projects and applications in front of a jury consisting of:
Dr. Antoine Habchi, Lebanese parliament member,
Dr. Georg Birgelen, German Ambassador in Lebanon,
Dr. Dirk Dreher, Vice President , Head of logistics planning, BMW Group,
Dr. Tobias Afsali, General Work Council, BMW Group,
Mr. Franz Kellhuber, Director Sales Engineering Central Europe, Splunk,
Mr. Fadi Naffah, Program Manager, Agrytech,
Dr. Mohamad Nassar, Assistant Professor, AUB/inmind .ai,
Mrs. Joelle Haykal, Administration and Human Resources Manager, Bassoul-Heneine.
Following the jury’s discussion, the three winning teams were announced during the Hackathon’s main session- SBS’18:
- First Place winners: AUB Team 4, consisted of: Mohammad Ali Hamdan, Karim Kenaan, and Karl Hayek, who received 6000 dollars awarded by Splunk.
- Second Place winners: NDU Team 2, consisted of: Jason Eid, Ralf Zakarian, and Joe Karam, who received 3000 dollars awarded by BMW Group.
- Third Place winners: UA Team 2, consisted of: Gilbert Jabbour, Christian Eid, and Alexandre Ibrini, who received 1500 dollars awarded by inmind .ai.
