    19 September 2025

Two students from Antonine University (UA) proudly represented their institution at the Healthy and Active Lifestyle (HALS) Summer School 2025, hosted by the Euro Mediterranean University (EMUNI) in Piran, Slovenia.

This intensive program brought together leading experts and students in kinesiology, physical activity, and health sciences for a week of engaging lectures, workshops, and cultural exchange.

    Academic and Practical Enrichment

Supported by an International Credit Mobility (ICM) grant co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, Leena Termos from the Department of Physical Therapy and Hassan Khouchech from the Department of Nursing Sciences took part in a wide range of activities. These included electromyography (EMG) and electroencephalography (EEG) studies on muscle-brain interactions, the Mediterranean diet, and interventions to counteract physical inactivity.

The program offered them valuable hands-on experience and advanced knowledge, while also strengthening the academic partnership between UA and EMUNI.

    Cultural Exchange and Lasting Connections

In addition to the academic component, participants enjoyed a rich cultural program, which featured a guided tour of the historic town of Piran and a farewell event organized by EMUNI students. These activities fostered international friendships and expanded students’ professional networks.

    Student Reflections

Looking back on the experience, one UA student described the HALS Summer School as “an unforgettable opportunity that significantly enriched my academic journey.” They highlighted the unique chance to collaborate with inspiring peers from diverse backgrounds, the well-organized and engaging nature of the program, and the memorable discovery of Piran’s beauty and Slovenia’s warm hospitality.

Both students expressed their sincere gratitude to Antonine University for providing this invaluable opportunity, underscoring the program’s impact on their academic and personal growth.
