The Institute of the Arab World and Antonine University, in partnership, honoured the Lebanese philosopher Nassif Nassar On Thursday November 29th, 2018. He was awarded the Medal of the Institute of the Arab World, as well as the Antonine University silver quill. The gathering was attended by academics, media professionals and those interested in cultural affairs.
The first speech was delivered by the President of the University, Father Michel Jalakh, followed by the General Director of the Arab World Institute, Dr. Mojib Al Zahrani, and the speech of the Director of the Institute of the Arab World Chair, Professor Tayeb Ould Al Arousi,
After the opening address, a panel discussion was given by Professor Abdel-Ellah Balqziz (Morocco), Dr. Michael Frey (Switzerland) and Dr. Antoine Seif (Lebanon).
Then Nassar received the Medal of the Institute of the Arab World and Antonine University silver quill. The audience received copies of Nassar's latest book, "Light and Meaning: Meditations on the Banks of Hope" as a gift by the Antonine University. This gift was given in hope of encouraging the reading of Nassar’s writings. As it is known that the reading of a writer’s work, is the utmost act of honor and appreciation.
