Subsequent to my graduation with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science from Antonine University (UA), I moved to Brussels to the Institut Supérieur d’Enseignement Infirmier (Higher Institute of Nursing Education – ISEI), where I specialized in Intensive Care and Emergency Medical Aid. The student exchange program between Antonine University (UA) and the ISEI made the move to Brussels a smooth and easy one. At the end of this specialization and in the framework of the dual degree program agreement between the UA and the Université Laval of Quebec, I followed a short training program at the Université Laval consisting of propaedeutic courses for the research master’s degree in Nursing Science. I subsequently moved back to Brussels and worked in the A & E department and Emergency Medical Aid Service at a university hospital. In tandem with my work, I followed a Master’s degree in Public Health at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL). Currently, I am in the process of completing my doctorate at the UCL where I am responsible for both research and teaching.

When I opted for a career in nursing, I was fully cognizant that I had chosen the kind of profession through which I could enter people's lives and make a huge difference in there.

Nursing Science, as a specialty, is indeed very broad, giving the practicing nurse the opportunity to take the direction he or she prefers, starting with geriatrics to pediatrics. Subsequent to graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science at Antonine University (UA), I pursued my specialization in pediatrics at the Institut Supérieur d’Enseignement Infirmier (Higher Institute of Nursing Education – ISEI), which is associated with the Catholic University of Louvain.

As soon as I came back from Belgium, I worked as a neonatal nurse practitioner for 6 years. Simultaneously, I was pursuing my advanced postgraduate diploma of advanced studies (DEA) in Community Health at Antonine University. This allowed me to move from being a nurse practitioner to a nurse educator delivering courses of pediatric care. Today, I am a full-time teacher and academic head in the Department of Nursing Science at Antonine University.
