The Department of Journalism and Communication at the Faculty of Information and Communication at Antonine University is organizing the second webinar within Les Jeudis de l’InfoCom, a series of monthly webinars that aim at staying up to date with the latest trends in the field, and to widen the horizons of students and the community at large while instilling in them the love of life-long learning.
This second webinar is entitled “The Fake News: How to Face Them and Avoid Manipulation,” as this worldwide phenomenon is threatening the social, economic, and political stability in societies. Lebanon and the Arab world are no exception in facing the bad impact of fake news that are defacing social media and influencing social and political behavior.
During this 50-minute session, participants will have an overview of fake news and the ways to face them in order to build media literacy and healthy information communities. The webinar will focus on the following issues:
- How are the fake news produced and what for?
- Who is behind them?
- How to face the fake news?
- What is the role of the traditional Mass Media?
- How to build a media literacy and healthy information communities?
