Did you know that 2 out of 3 people will experience at least one episode of lower back pain in their lives? This issue is one of the main concerns of the Department of Physical Therapy of Antonine University. On Saturday, April 13, 2019, and during the Department's 7th scientific day held at the Nabi Ayla-Zahle campus, a dozen experts met the expectations of an informed public and intervened under the theme of “Spine degeneration: medical interventions and rehabilitation”.

Degenerative spine conditions are one of the most frequent reasons for neurology, orthopedics, general medicine, and rheumatology consultations. While it is true that no one dies from back pain, many people suffering from it experience a decline in the quality of their daily lives. This pathology has, in fact, the worst impact in terms of years of disability.
Besides, back pain is the primary cause of stopping work (alongside depression), thus indirectly harming the financial status of patients.

Finally, this conference was an opportunity to exhibit "Physio-Tech", a project developed by the Department of Physical Therapy in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering. Together, the two Faculties are working on creating a smart virtual-reality device to help professional physiotherapists and students in their work.
