Under the direction of the General Superior of the Antonine Maronite Order (OAM) and the supervision of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Antonine University (UA) is led by the Rector, who is assisted by the Administrative Council.
Since its establishment, UA has remained committed to providing quality education, promoting inter-disciplinary and contextualized research, and enhancing the sustainable well-being of its local and global communities. In order to carry out its mission, the University embraces a shared governance model, which consists of various authoritative, central, and representative bodies. These bodies can be categorized into 2 main groups: single-member bodies, comprising the Rectorate, deans of faculties, and directors of departments, and collegial bodies, including the Administrative Council, Academic Committee, and faculty and department councils. These bodies work collectively under the overarching umbrella of the responsible management. According to the Organic Statute, each authority has distinct roles within the current governance framework.
The Rectorate holds senior oversight of the institution and consists of the Rector, Secretary General (SG), Bursar, Executive Vice Rector (EVR) who serves simultaneously as Director of the Office of Strategic Initiatives and Quality Assurance (ISAQ), Vice Rector for Academic Affairs (VRAA), Vice Rector for Research (VRR), Vice Rector for Administration (VRA), Vice Rector for Integral Human Development (VRIHD), and Vice Rector for Cooperation and Internationalization (VRCI). These members fulfill their stewardship role, jointly address matters of significant importance, and keep each other informed about changes within their areas of responsibility. Moreover, UA’s governing bodies are responsible for drafting statutes, engaging in the policy-making process, implementing and prioritizing the strategic plan and initiatives aligned with UA’s values of truth, excellence, diversity, integrity, responsibility, and beauty. They oversee the University’s administration, manage its financial assets, ensure smooth operations, and monitor progress towards achieving institutional objectives as defined by the UA Council.
