  • A strengthened Cooperation Between Antonine University and EMUNI

    09 March 2022

Driven by its desire to step up its collaboration with the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI), especially after joining efforts in 2020 to engage in a number of vital and valuable initiatives and strategies aimed at putting the concept of “Internationalization at Home (IaH)” into practice within the framework of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building project MED2IaH, Antonine University (UA), supported by Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility, was extremely delighted to send a delegation to the EMUNI University where UA’s Rector, Fr. Michel Jalakh, and the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Internationalization, Prof. Rony Darazi were warmly welcomed by the EMUNI’s President, Prof. Abdelhamid El-Zoheiry, the Head of Academic Affairs, Dr. Jerneja Penca, and EMUNI staff. EMUNI is a university network of 138 members in the Euro-Mediterranean region established since 2008 in the city of Portoroz and currently located in the medieval town of Piran, Slovenia.

The stimulating discussions fueled by the fruitful exchange of views enabled to broaden and deepen interinstitutional cooperation in areas of common interest, such as the design and submission of new capacity-building projects in the field of higher education, the exchange of faculty members and students under the Intercultural Business Communication and Entrepreneurship blended master’s degree programs. Particular attention was drawn to kinesiology where interdisciplinary research collaboration with partners in the fields of physical therapy, sport sciences and engineering technology is being sought in order to address emerging societal challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The meeting fulfilled its intended purpose, as on Thursday, March 3, 2022, a letter of intent was signed between the two parties, thus allowing UA to join the EMUNI’s network.
