In line with our mission to illuminate the path of our students and open new horizons of opportunity, Antonine University (UA) has established a cooperation agreement with The Specialized Administration and Management Institute of La Francophonie (ESFAM), an institute of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF). This partnership enables UA students in their first year of Master’s to embark on an enriching journey during their second year at ESFAM in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, fostering an international and intercultural environment.

Eliane Makhoul, a Bachelor of Business Administration UA graduate, enrolled in a Master of Business Administration, applied and was accepted for the exchange program to study at EFSAM Sofia for the current academic year. Her courses focus on “Management de l’innovation durable et de la digitalization,” giving her the distinction of graduating with 2 degrees, one from UA and another from HEC Liège in Belgium.

1- What motivated you to apply for this exchange opportunity?
The idea of this exchange opportunity resonates deeply with me on a personal level. I am drawn to the prospect of immersing myself in a new environment, surrounded by different cultures and perspectives. Exploring unfamiliar territories and building connections with people from diverse backgrounds excites me, as I believe it is through these experiences that we truly grow and broaden our horizons. This opportunity represents a chance for genuine personal growth and enrichment, and I am eager to embrace it wholeheartedly. ESFAM provided exactly what I was looking for.

2- How does this exchange program align with your goals or interests
This exchange program aligns perfectly with my goals and interests as it offers a unique opportunity to expand my horizons, both personally and academically. Immersing myself in a new culture and pursuing a program focused on “Management de l’innovation durable et de la digitalization” will not only enhance my language skills but also deepen my understanding of global issues and perspectives. Additionally, interacting with students and professionals from different backgrounds, such as Bulgaria, Belgium, and France, will enrich my learning experience and foster valuable cross-cultural communication skills. Ultimately, participating in this exchange program will contribute significantly to my personal and professional development, aligning perfectly with my aspirations for growth and exploration.

3- What has inspired you the most during this study experience?
One of the most inspiring aspects during my study experience at EFSAM Sofia in Bulgaria, has been the opportunity to pursue a double Master’s degree conferred by both UA and HEC Liège in Belgium. This remarkable opportunity represents a significant milestone in my academic journey and underscores the institution’s commitment to providing students with unparalleled educational experiences. The chance to earn dual degrees from prestigious universities not only enhances the value of my academic credentials but also opens doors to diverse career opportunities on a global scale. It is an incredible opportunity that I am determined not to miss, driving me to excel academically and make the most of every learning opportunity presented to me. Interacting with classmates from various corners of the globe has broadened my perspective and enriched my understanding of different cultures, traditions, and viewpoints. This melting pot of diversity has not only fostered an environment of inclusivity and mutual respect but has also sparked fascinating conversations and collaborations that transcend geographical boundaries. Moreover, witnessing the resilience, passion, and dedication of my professors and peers in pursuit of academic excellence has been incredibly inspiring, motivating me to push myself beyond my comfort zone and strive for my highest potential. Overall, the vibrant multicultural atmosphere at EFSAM Sofia has been a constant source of inspiration, driving me to embrace new challenges and embark on a journey of continuous learning and growth.

4- What advice would you give to current UA students?
My advice to current UA students would be to embrace every opportunity for growth and exploration that comes their way. University life offers a wealth of experiences beyond the classroom — from extracurricular activities to internships and study abroad programs. Take advantage of these opportunities to expand your horizons, discover new passions, and develop valuable skills that will serve you well in the future. Additionally, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself intellectually and personally. Seek out mentors and advisors who can provide guidance and support as you navigate your academic and career paths. Remember to prioritize self-care and well-being, and don’t hesitate to reach out for help if you need it. Above all, stay curious, resilient, and never stop pursuing your dreams.
