The inaugural General Assembly of the French-speaking University Network for Sports and Education was held on October 31, 2023, in Quebec. The Secretary General (SG) of Antonine University (UA), Fr. Ziad Maatouk, and the Vice Rector for Integral Human Development (VRIHD), Fr. Jean Al Alam, represented UA, thereby confirming the University’s commitment to the development of sports and education.

This new network brings together francophone universities from around the world with the aim of enhancing the role of sports in francophone societies. As a member of this network, UA actively participates in this initiative launched by the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), as part of the 3rd edition of the World Francophone Science Week (SMFS-2023).

The election of the members of the Sports and Education Network Board also took place during this General Assembly. The president, vice president, secretary general, and treasurer were elected to coordinate the network’s activities and promote sports and education in francophone countries.

This University Network encourages collaboration among international and multidisciplinary experts in the field of sports. It promotes research, develops specialized professional training, and coordinates inter-institutional sports competitions.

The establishment of this Network marks a significant step in promoting sports and education, and UA is committed to actively contributing to the network’s efforts to develop innovative solutions and foster the well-being of students and athletes in the field of sports.
