    13 October 2023

The Faculty of Engineering (FOE) at Antonine University (UA), in collaboration with the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO and the Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), organized a workshop titled “Building Capacities in Low-Code and No-Code Technologies to Bridge the Gap in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Skills,” which took place from September 26 to 28, 2023, at UA’s Nabi Ayla–Zahle Campus.

The workshop had 2 primary objectives. Firstly, it aimed to familiarize 31 participants from various academic disciplines with low-code and no-code platforms, equipping them with the skills to develop personalized software applications. Secondly, it sought to nurture these participants into adept entrepreneurs, fostering their success in the entrepreneurial realm.

During the first 2 days of the workshop, Dr. Chady Abou Jaoude, FOE’s Dean, and Dr. Zahi Chami, a full-time instructor at the FOE, conducted interactive activities to instruct the participants in low-code and no-code technologies. These activities served as preparation for a mini-project that was initiated on the second day.

On the third day, Ms. Lynda Achkouty provided valuable information on Sketching, covering the concept of entrepreneurship, characteristics of a successful entrepreneur, ways to seek opportunities, and converting opportunities into business ideas.

The Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO was represented by Ms. Katia Ibrahim, the Activities Coordinator, while ISESCO was represented by Dr. Adel Samida, an expert in the field of science and technology.

It is worth noting that a team of 3 participants will be selected from the workshop to represent Lebanon in the ISESCO competition scheduled for 2024, where several countries will showcase their expertise in low-code technologies.
