    14 March 2024

Antonine University (UA), in celebration of International Women’s Day, shattered norms and honored 4 remarkable women within its Institution during the “UA Women in Gold” panel. Fr. Jean Al Alam, UA’s Vice Rector for Integral Human Development (VRIHD), delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the invaluable qualities possessed by each UA woman — strength, determination, and the guiding light of knowledge.

These exceptional women, representing diverse positions at the University, include Dr. Talar Atechian, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs (VRAA); Dr. Huguette Abou Mrad, Director of the Language Center (LC); Ms. Maya Nohra, Head of the Department of Dental Laboratory Technology (DDLT); and Ms. Jocelyn Saab, Director of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). Their selection aligns with the principles of the WE4LEAD European project, which aims to empower women in higher education and promote their leadership in decision-making roles.

UA’s commitment to gender equality in key positions demonstrates their dedication to upholding human rights and fostering inclusive societies, as advocated by the United Nations (UN). This dedication is in line with UA’s mission and actively works toward implementing the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5: Gender Equality.

The event featured an engaging panel where these remarkable women shared insights into their careers, the challenges they have faced, and how they have overcome them. Their discussion with Fr. Al Alam highlighted their determination, resilience, and remarkable ability to transform challenges into opportunities.

May the brilliance of UA women always shine as brightly as gold.
