    18 November 2025
Retraining Educators for the 21st Century: The Kodály and the Oriental Maqam Approaches

Part of the UA Plus Program

The Faculty of Music and Musicology (FMM) at Antonine University (UA) invites music educators, students, and alumni to take part in an enriching workshop designed to reimagine music pedagogy for the modern classroom.

    About the Workshop

In an ever-changing educational landscape, music educators must continuously refine their skills to meet the needs of 21st-century learners. This interactive workshop invites participants to rediscover the joy and purpose of music education through two complementary frameworks: the Kodály philosophy, a time-tested and developmentally appropriate approach that nurtures musical literacy, creativity, and cultural awareness; and the Oriental pedagogical Maqam, rooted in the rich musical traditions of the region.

Through singing, movement, solfège, and hands-on activities using the pedagogical Santur, participants will explore the essential elements of music—beat, rhythm, melody, tone color, dynamics, and form—while discovering strategies for integrating modern teaching tools and multicultural repertoires.
