Message from the Head of the Department

Greetings.

It is with a great pleasure that we welcome our undergraduate and graduate students to the Department of Dental Laboratory Technology (DDLT) within the Faculty of Public Health (FPH).

As director of the DDLT, I am extremely proud of the rich tradition upheld since its foundation in 1986, which is providing a dynamic and engaging program. It represents a perfect mix between two primary pillars: the theory and the hands-on approach of practical learning. Both elements are essential to promoting exciting educational opportunities and preparing students for success in the real world.

The DDLT is the oldest college of its kind in Lebanon and is recognized as a national leader in providing this exceptional program. As far as we are concerned, the longing and eagerness to evolve have not wavered. The past challenges and huge technological advancements are continuously analyzed as a path to reshape our future. As impatient optimists, we did not fear globalization nor its adverse challenges. Rather, we nurtured excellence and sought new means of cooperation.

To meet the needs of a rapidly changing world, we actively collaborate with large companies and leaders in dental technology nationally and internationally. In other terms, the university-business cooperation represents an essential bidirectional knowledge exchange. In this exchange, academics act as the source of specialized scientific knowledge where they enhance employment opportunities, promote civic participation, foster creativity and open debates. Meanwhile, the business serves as the root of the practical market, helping to make teaching more engaging and more relevant.

The DDLT program leads students to have a valuable learning experience. They will learn in fully equipped laboratories representative of current industry standards that will facilitate their ability to acquire needed technical skills and knowledge in a safe and healthy environment.

When you join the DDLT, the faculty members and myself will welcome and support you so that we work collaboratively for our continuous progress, thus rendering the University a better place.

We hope you join this journey with us!

Ms. Maya Nohra
