Services

The Language Center (LC) at Antonine University (UA) offers its students various services in order to strengthen their linguistic skills in the world’s most spoken languages and aid them in attaining native-like competence in the language of their preference.

Placement Tests
Students who haven’t taken external tests or are not holding diplomas have to sit either for an English or French and English placement tests, which usually take place throughout the year and help determine their proficiency level.

Assessment – Certificates
For each course, and regardless of its duration, we evaluate the students' improvement through frequent testing and final examinations. At the end of the courses, certificates of achievement can be provided to students showing the level achieved.

Examination Center
This service offers great opportunities for students to earn official qualifications granted by the French Ministry of National Education, and which recognize the French skills acquired by international candidates. The six qualifications are compatible with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).

At each level, the following five language-related activities are assessed: listening comprehension, spoken interaction, spoken production, written comprehension, and writing. Candidates can apply to obtain one of the below levels: Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française (DELF - Diploma in French Language Studies, levels B1 and B2).

On July 6, 2022, Antonine University (UA) entered into an agreement with IDP IELTS Australia and has become an IELTS test venue partner officially entitled to administer the world’s leading English exam inside its campus at Hadat–Baabda (and soon at Nabi Ayla–Zahle). The IELTS test is jointly managed by the British Council, the Cambridge Assessment English and the IDP IELTS Australia and will be offered to the UA students as well as to extra-mural students of other universities and/or schools.

Furthermore, the LC offers exam preparation courses which are tailored to their individual needs to help them pass their exams successfully.

DELF Preparation
For students and professionals who want to obtain internationally recognized qualifications and prepare for DELF B2, the LC prepares effectively for these examinations or tests by providing them with sample papers.

The five communication skills that are covered are listening and written comprehension, spoken interaction, and spoken and written production.

Student Academic Success Service
The LC supports high-quality learning and overall student success. It provides coaching to learners who are facing academic challenges and empowers them to develop their academic language skills and make progress toward degree completion.
