Ms. Reine Nehme, Instructor at Antonine University (UA), led a workshop at the Bible Societies titled “Between Creativity and Faith: How AI Is Transforming Christian Publishers.” The session was part of the seventh training workshop organized by the Christian Publishers League in Lebanon and gathered around 25 participants representing 10 Christian publishing houses, including professionals in publishing, marketing, and production.

Through this interactive and forward-looking workshop, Ms. Nehme explored how artificial intelligence (AI) can foster creativity and innovation in Christian publishing while remaining faithful to its spiritual mission. The session opened with an introduction to AI, engaging questions, and an inspiring Bible verse that framed the discussion around the intersection of technology and faith: “One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.” — Psalm 145:4

Participants discovered how AI is reshaping the publishing field by supporting content creation, editing, translation, and digital communication. Ms. Nehme also highlighted the opportunities AI offers to Christian publishers, such as improving accessibility and translation, reaching younger audiences, and producing multimedia content, while addressing key challenges including misinterpretation, spiritual discernment, and intellectual property issues. Collaborative group activities invited participants to apply these insights in designing creative, faith-inspired projects, using several free and practical AI tools.

The workshop concluded with a reflective discussion on how AI can be used responsibly, as a tool that enhances creativity, strengthens the mission of Christian publishing, and continues to spread the Word in innovative and meaningful ways.

Ms. Nehme emphasized that the workshop’s main ideas are closely linked to her teaching at UA, where she encourages students to engage critically and creatively with AI tools while maintaining ethical awareness. This approach reflects the mindset fostered at Antonine University—one that combines innovation with human values. She further noted that Catholic universities like UA play an essential role in promoting responsible AI use, balancing technological advancement with moral discernment, and ensuring that digital innovation serves human dignity and the common good.
