Healing the Invisible Wounds: Path to Hope in Times of War

Part of the UA Plus Program

As an institution, Antonine University (UA) is committed to enhancing the sustainable well-being of our local and global communities. We recognize that providing mental health support is a vital component of community resilience.

In this context, UA’s Vice Rectorate for Integral Human Development is launching a series of wellness sessions under the theme Healing the Invisible Wounds: Path to Hope in Times of War. This initiative aims to address the unique psychological impacts of war, offering both theoretical and practical sessions designed to help individuals cope with trauma and foster resilience.

After every airstrike, the most common question is, “How are you?” We often hope to hear the response, “I’m alive.” However, in the context of mental health, it is crucial to go further and reach a place where we can confidently say, “I am holding on, I am in control, my nerves are fine.”

Our country is experiencing widespread psychological trauma, and it is a burdensome realization that we are being targeted. No boundaries or distances can shield us from the fear, uncertainty, and worry that undermine our ability to manage day-to-day tasks. The first session, titled Dreaming of Being: It Is OK Not to Be OK During Abnormalities, aims to promote self-compassion, provide self-help instructions, and develop skills in primary psychological assistance.

    Session Objectives

    • Cultivate knowledge about war trauma and anxiety
    • Recognize symptoms of trauma and anxiety
    • Combat mental health stigma
    • Understand the importance of psychosocial support
    • Learn techniques for self-care and anxiety management
