How do global markets really work, and why do financial headlines matter beyond the trading floor? These questions took center stage at Antonine University (UA) during an interactive session that brought financial markets out of textbooks and into real-life context.
Organized on February 3, 2026, by the Vice Rectorate for Integral Human Development (VRIHD) through the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), the session titled “Financial Markets in the Real World: From Theory to Practice” welcomed students and staff from across disciplines at the Hadat–Baabda Campus. Designed to be accessible to participants with no prior background in finance, the event aimed to demystify how financial markets operate and how they influence everyday decisions.
The session was delivered by Mr. Omar Ayoub, Financial Market Analyst at CFI Lebanon and alumnus of Antonine School of Business (Class of 2020). Drawing on real-world examples, he guided attendees through the fundamentals of global financial markets, shedding light on key instruments such as currencies, commodities, and stocks, as well as the forces that drive market movements.
Beyond theory, the discussion focused on practical skills used by market professionals. Participants were introduced to core trading concepts, basic market analysis tools, and effective ways to read and interpret financial news. Particular emphasis was placed on risk management, highlighting the role of informed strategies and disciplined decision-making in navigating market volatility responsibly.
Interactive exchanges and concrete case studies helped translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights, offering attendees a solid starting point for understanding financial markets and their broader economic impact.
Held in collaboration with CFI and as part of the UA Plus Program, the session reflects Antonine University’s commitment to integral human development by equipping its community with practical financial literacy, critical thinking skills, and real-world competencies that support both personal growth and professional readiness.
