Healing the Invisible Wounds: Path to Hope in Times of War
As an institution, Antonine University (UA) is committed to enhancing the sustainable well-being of our local and global communities. We recognize that providing mental health support is a vital component of community resilience.
In this spirit, UA’s Vice Rectorate for Integral Human Development has launched a series of wellness sessions under the theme Healing the Invisible Wounds: Path to Hope in Times of War. This initiative addresses the unique psychological impacts of war, offering both theoretical insights and practical strategies designed to help individuals cope with trauma and foster resilience.
In times of trauma and great stress we seek deep connection with each other. Our social body is the next level of protection for the felt vulnerability of our individual bodies under threat. Our emotions create attunement and regulation in healthy relationships. The caring presence of others mitigates the painful impact of trauma responses and it contributes to resilience. This session, Emotional Connection for Resilience During Times of Trauma, explains the importance of relationships in times of trauma and ways to offer a caring presence to one another. It offers two practices for cultivating deep connection and a sense of safety and belonging that support our inherent resilience: compassion meditation and the embodied allyship exercise.
