Department Council

Functioning

The Department of Nursing Sciences (DNS) Council shall meet at least once per month or upon the request of the Rectorship or one-third of its members. A report must be submitted to the Rector within a period that does not exceed one week after the meeting.

Responsibilities

In the educational field, the Council shall:

  • preserve the value and the relevance of the education provided in the unit, improve the level, and constantly modernize the curricula and teaching methods;
  • establish an annual strategic plan as well as the unit’s budget;
  • deliberate on the academic cooperation project with an external institution;
  • validate the reports and decisions of all departmental committees.
Curriculum Committee

Functioning

The Committee meets after each cohort.

Responsibilities

The Curriculum Committee intends to:

  • review and assess the curriculum to provide an instructional program consistent with the aims and objectives of Antonine University (UA) and that meets the needs of the students;
  • propose new courses or delete some from the program;
  • revise existing courses by approving changes to title, description, component, distribution requirements, and prerequisites;
  • collaborate with the instructors to avoid curricular redundancies every semester;
  • coordinate with the Advisory Committee and the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs (VRAA).
Equivalence and Transfer Committee

Functioning

The Committee meets regularly at the beginning of each semester to review student registration files and decide about each student. It also meets when it is necessary to assist, upon request, the Department’s Curriculum Committee.

Responsibilities

The Equivalence and Transfer Committee intends to:

  • assess the equivalence of studies and academic qualifications for the admission of a new student to UA;
  • decide about the admission of a student who had completed courses in other units;
  • clarify bridges between technical and academic education concerning the nursing sciences curriculum;
  • ensure academic mobility with partner universities abroad;
  • establish procedures relating to transfer and equivalence standards within the Department.
Scientific Committee

Functioning

The Committee schedules one meeting per semester and arranges for jury approval committee meetings.

Responsibilities

The Scientific Committee intends to:

  • ensure the scientific quality and credibility of symposia, events, and scientific days;
  • ensure that the projects submitted to it comply with scientific research standards;
  • review research projects in collaboration with UA’s Scientific Research Council (SRC) and according to the priorities and objectives of the Department;
  • organize scientific and cultural events;
  • promote cultural and scientific activities relevant to and coherent with the community’s needs.
Advisory Committee

The Faculty Council, on the proposal of the Dean, appoints the DNS’s Advisory Committee. The Committee is composed of experts from outside UA who represent the work field.

Responsibilities

The Advisory Committee intends to:

  • provide useful information associated with the development of the nursing sector;
  • provide the Dean with consultancy regarding the review of programs, projects of curricular revisions, and new programs.
