Program Objectives

The Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy is a professional program accredited by the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT). The program aims to educate qualified autonomous practitioners who meet the qualification requirements of the Order of Physiotherapists in Lebanon in a professional, safe, and ethical context.

This program grants the students access to basic education in health sciences, including fundamental sciences and clinical practice of Physical Therapy, to operate as a qualified Physical Therapist in our society. The graduates will be able to take care of patients/clients by paying attention to all the existing medical, environmental, psychosocial, and cultural aspects.

Eligibility

Admission to the Physical Therapy program is on a competitive, space-available basis.

To be eligible to enroll in the Physical Therapy Department, the candidate must have the Lebanese “Baccalaureate” or any other equivalent official diploma.

Applicants must fulfill the following admission criteria:

  • English placement test (Hadat–Baabda Campus) or French (Nabi Ayla–Zahle and Mejdlaya–Zgharta campuses.)
  • Individual interview.
  • Submission of the school record including the grades of the last years of secondary studies.

The evaluation system of the course learning outcomes completion consists of different evaluative methods, depending on the type of courses as below. This course is a standard applied statistics course that applies to physical therapy discipline. It introduces the necessary statistical analysis that will be needed in a physical therapist career.

Topics to be covered include descriptive statistics, parametric tests (independent samples t-test, paired-samples t-test, one-sample t-test, and ANOVA,) non-parametric tests (Mann-Whitney test, Wilcoxon matched pairs test, Wilcoxon test, and Kruskal-Wallis test,) Chi-squared test, linear correlation and regression, ANOVA repeated measures, ANOVA mixed model and MANOVA. The course will focus on the verification of assumptions required by each statistical used test (normality, equality of variances, etc.)

It will use the flipped classroom approach to expose students to a basic statistical method and their use in the real world. Finally, the course will ensure a closed follow up to students during their redaction of the statistical part of the manuscript. The course utilizes the IBM-SPSS software package for selected problems.
