As part of the UA Plus Program, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at Antonine University (UA) is hosting a cultural session to celebrate the 150th anniversary of “Carmen,” the most performed opera in the world.
This event revisits the journey of Georges Bizet’s iconic work, which was poorly received at its 1875 premiere but has since become a global classic. In collaboration with the Baalbeck International Festival, the session will feature stage director Mr. Jorge Takla, who will present his vision for this summer’s production of “Carmen,” alongside music lecturer Mr. Joe Letayf, who will explore the opera’s musical depth. The production will be conducted by Fr. Toufic Maatouk and will feature French soloists, a Romanian orchestra, Lebanese dancers, and the UA Choir, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at this major artistic undertaking.
