We are delighted to announce that Prof. Nidaa Abou Mrad, Dean of the Faculty of Music and Musicology (FMM) at Antonine University (UA), has been appointed to the Senior Professor Chair (CPS) at Sorbonne University (SU) for a 2-year term. Prof. Abou Mrad, a renowned Lebanese musicologist and physician, will lead an innovative training and research project focused on “Music, Neuroscience, and Therapy,” furthering the collaborative efforts between UA and SU.

Recipient of the CNRS-L Scientific Excellence Award, Prof. Abou Mrad was selected for this mission due to his multidisciplinary research at UA on the generative grammar of modal monodies and its connections with the cognitive neuropsychology of music, as well as his establishment of a music therapy program at UA. This expertise will be instrumental in creating a new “Music and Therapy” master’s program at SU.
