On Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Department of Nursing Sciences (DNS) at Antonine University (UA), in collaboration with Lions Clubs International, hosted a Free Medical Day on the Hadat–Baabda Campus. This public health initiative brought together healthcare professionals, students, and members of the community for a morning dedicated to wellness, awareness, and accessible care.
The event welcomed the residents of Hadat–Baabda region — offering them free access to a wide range of medical screenings and consultations. From the moment participants arrived, they were guided and supported by DNS students, who played a central role in ensuring the experience was smooth, informative, and compassionate. Their active involvement reflected UA’s commitment to experiential learning and community impact.
Several distinguished specialists joined the initiative to offer their time and expertise. Dr. Anthony Daher conducted optometry screenings, while Dr. Albert Ayoub led mammography consultations. Nutrition advice was provided by Ms. Tania Salloum, and Dr. Claudia Ghawi offered gastroenterological evaluations. Hearing screenings were conducted by Dr. Maroun Boustani. In addition to these consultations, the event featured general screenings such as blood pressure measurement, blood glucose and HbA1c testing, and heart checkups, all supervised by nursing faculty and students.
The success of the Free Medical Day underscored UA’s mission to promote health education and prevention, and to foster strong connections between the University and the wider community. It was a reminder that meaningful healthcare begins with access, awareness, and the willingness to serve.
