Antonine University (UA) has taken a key step forward in international academic engagement by initiating exploratory discussions on research opportunities with Qatar University. The UA delegation, composed of Fr. Ziad Maatouk, Secretary General and Vice Rector for Administration, and Fr. Jean Al Alam, Vice Rector for Integral Human Development, engaged in transformative discussions with prominent members of Qatar University.

The meeting brought together experts dedicated to innovation in higher education, notably Dr. Khalid W. Bibi, Acting Dean of the College of Sport Sciences at the Vice President for Academic Affairs Office; Dr. Rony Ramez Ibrahim, Assistant Professor of Biomechanics at the College of Sport Sciences; and Mr. Cesar Wazen, Director of the International Affairs Office at the President’s Office. Promising research avenues in sport sciences were explored, aiming to provide students and researchers with exceptional opportunities.

Given Qatar’s preparations to host the Basketball World Cup 2027, the timing was especially opportune. Both institutions will explore joint research projects that leverage Qatar’s growing prominence on the international sports stage.
