  • UA Celebrates International Nurses Day

    16 May 2025

Antonine University (UA) marked International Nurses Day with a series of engaging events at both the Hadat–Baabda and Mejdlaya–Zgharta Campuses, honoring the essential role of nurses under the theme “Raise Your Lamps, Illuminate the Path to Health.”

At the Hadat–Baabda Campus, the Department of Nursing Sciences (DNS) organized a full-day celebration that unfolded in two parts. On the Balcony of Building K, nursing students set up six awareness standscovering topics such as diabetes, tobacco use, stress management, first aid, and more. These interactive stations, supervised by faculty members, encouraged students and staff to explore everyday health topics through practical demonstrations.

The celebration continued in Building A, Fr. Antoine Rajeh Hall, where the community gathered for a vibrant program featuring student-led performances, a cake-cutting moment, and the unveiling of a collaborative canvas artwork titled Promotions 2022–2025. The piece, shaped as a large tree and imprinted with students’ multicolored thumbprints, symbolized unity and growth. Trophies shaped like lamps were awarded to the best stand in line with the event’s theme, and students received small gifts in appreciation of their participation.

Meanwhile, at the Mejdlaya–Zgharta Campus, the day was equally memorable. Highlights included a touching tribute video to Florence Nightingale and a live CPR simulation by third-year students, showcasing their clinical readiness. Students received symbolic Florence Nightingale notebooks, reinforcing the values of care and compassion in nursing. A personal video message from the Head of Department, Dr. Mona Nehme, reflected on the nobility of the profession, followed by a conference led by Dr. Arnaoune, a specialist in disaster and emergency medicine, who discussed managing daily challenges in the healthcare field.

In a gesture of academic recognition, the Lions Club presented miniature trophies shaped as Florence Nightingale’s lamp to the top-performing students of each promotion. The day concluded with a celebratory buffet and cake shared by the entire nursing community.

This multi-campus initiative was a powerful tribute to the commitment, resilience, and excellence of UA’s nursing students, offering both campuses a space to engage, learn, and celebrate the heart of healthcare.
