Antonine University (UA) made its mark at the 21st edition of the Beirut International Marathon, held on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the Beirut Waterfront. Over 55 faculty members, staff, and students, united in solidarity and vibrant shades of purple, participated in the Run for a Cause race, a 5 KM untimed fun run, to show their support for The Neonate Fund.

The Neonate Fund stands as a beacon of hope, dedicated to providing vital financial aid to families with newborns requiring specialized medical care at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). The fund aims to alleviate the burdens of families facing economic hardships, ensuring that every prematurely born baby receives the necessary medical attention for a healthy start in life.

UA’s decision to rally behind the Neonate Fund aligns with its visionary five-year plan, which focuses on supporting causes related to the human life cycle, including birth, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age.

The presence of the UA community at the Marathon emphasized their unwavering commitment to creating a positive impact on society and supporting those in need. The UA medical team, composed of members from the Department of Physical Therapy (DPT), stood ready at the finish line to assist injured runners during and after the races. By participating in this event, they not only raised awareness about The Neonate Fund but also contributed to the overall spirit of unity that the Beirut Marathon embodies.

For years, the Beirut International Marathon has served as a prominent platform for individuals and organizations to come together and champion various causes. UA’s involvement in this prestigious event stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication to social responsibility and their ongoing efforts to improve the lives of others.
