    20 September 2024

Antonine University (UA) recently kicked off the academic year with its much-anticipated Welcome Week, held from September 9 to 13, 2024, across its Hadat–Baabda, Nabi Ayla–Zahle, and Mejdlaya–Zgharta Campuses. This event marked an exciting beginning for both new and returning students, offering a wealth of activities designed to foster exploration, connection, and personal growth.

The theme for this year, “A Journey Full of Wonders: Explore, Bond, Grow,” set an inspiring tone for the week, with activities carefully curated to enhance the student experience.

On the first day, students received a map outlining the week’s activities, allowing them to keep track of events and enter the grand draw for an exciting prize: a tour around Lebanon to explore the country’s natural and cultural gems.

Students were invited to discover the University’s diverse services, values, and commitment to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals through interactive sessions held in key campus locations, while also enjoying freebies. These activities offered newcomers and returning students a chance to familiarize themselves with the available resources and make the most of their university experience.

Adventurous sports activities were a major highlight of the week. Students engaged in friendly competitions, including basketball, table tennis, badminton, and climbing. These events not only promoted physical wellness but also encouraged camaraderie and teamwork among participants.

In addition to physical activities, Ms. Micheline Sammour, UA Counselor, conducted wellness sessions, focused on strategies and empowering tools necessary for maintaining a healthy and productive lifestyle throughout the students’ academic journey.

Social events played a crucial role in fostering connections among students. “Jumanji” movie nights and board game sessions provided informal settings for bonding, while “Your Story Corner” allowed students to showcase talents, share small business ideas, and learn about various student clubs. Additionally, free movie tickets from VOX Cinemas were distributed to ten lucky winners during the movie night, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.

With the presence of deans, heads of departments, and faculty members, students embarked on an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of their academic paths and set the course for their future studies.

Students also had the chance to meet with the UA Rector. During this momentous occasion, students, staff, and faculty gathered to listen to the inspiring words of the UA Rector, forging connections over refreshments and snacks and strengthening the sense of unity within the UA community.

The week culminated in a lively celebration at the Hadat–Baabda Main Campus, where students from both regional campuses were invited. With a DJ, dancing, and fifteen exciting prizes with City Sight Seeing Lebanon, the party was a perfect conclusion to the Welcome Week, ensuring that students ended on a high note with new friendships and lasting memories. This vibrant week set the stage for a successful academic year, highlighting the University’s dedication to student development and community building.
