Antonine University (UA) reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women in higher education by hosting the second edition of UA Women in Gold, a panel discussion held in celebration of International Women’s Day. This event recognized four distinguished women from within the institution, celebrating their leadership, resilience, and invaluable contributions to UA’s academic and administrative landscape.

Moderated by Fr. Jean Al Alam, Vice Rector for Integral Human Development, the panel highlighted the achievements of Ms. Najat Yazigi, Administrative Assistant at the Secretariat General; Dr. Mona Nehme, Head of the Department of Nursing Sciences; Ms. Marie Dahdah, Administrative Director of the Mejdlaya–Zgharta Campus; and Dr. Nisrine Abouarraj, Head’s Delegate of the Department of Physical Therapy at the Nabi Ayla–Zahle Campus. Their selection aligns with the Women’s Empowerment for LEADership and Equity in Higher Education Institutions (WE4LEAD) project, which seeks to strengthen women’s roles in decision-making and leadership positions.

During the discussion, the honorees shared their professional journeys, the challenges they have faced, and the values that continue to drive their success. The panel provided an opportunity for reflection on the importance of gender inclusivity in leadership, reinforcing UA’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality and its broader mission of creating a more equitable academic environment.

The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session and a reception, where attendees further discussed the significance of women’s leadership in shaping the future of higher education.

UA remains steadfast in its belief that women’s contributions are the cornerstone of progress. Through initiatives like “Women in Gold,” the University continues to shine a light on their excellence and impact.
