    Don’t Let Hunting Become Haunting

Within Antonine University’s (UA) commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at the Nabi Ayla–Zahle Campus is organizing an awareness session titled Protect Our Birds, in partnership with the Anti-Poaching Unit (APU) and the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL). Supporting SDG 15: Life on Land, this environmental activity aims to address the issue of uncontrolled bird hunting in Lebanon, particularly in the Bekaa region.

The primary objective of this project is to educate our students about the proper methods and timing for bird hunting. We aim to raise awareness about the negative impacts of unregulated hunting on bird populations and their ecosystems. Furthermore, the session will promote alternative activities that can replace hunting, such as bow and arrow sports, nature photography, and other sustainable practices that protect wildlife. We will emphasize the importance of ethical hunting practices and the significance of wildlife education and nature respect.

    Audience: UA community
    Date: Thursday, February 8, 2024
