The Faculty of Music and Musicology (FMM) at Antonine University (UA) consists of 6 departments with a Bachelor of Arts, a Teaching Diploma, and Master’s degrees in Music and Musicology, which focus on one of the 6 concentrations:
- The Department of General Musicology of Traditions supervises the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Music and Musicology and the Master 1 in Music and Musicology (MM) – General Musicology of Traditions Concentration;
- The Department of Music Education Sciences supervises the BA in MM and the Master 1 in MM – Music Education Sciences Concentration, as well as the Teaching Diploma (TD) in MM;
- The Department of Music, Technology, and Media supervises the BA in MM and the Master 1 in MM – Music, Technology, and Media Concentration;
- The Department of Music Therapy supervises the BA in MM and the Master 1 in MM – Music Therapy Concentration;
- The Department of Arab Art Music supervises the BA in MM and the Master 1 in MM –Arab Art Music Concentration;
- The Department of European Art Music supervises the BA in MM and the Master 1 in MM – European Art Music Concentration, with a sub-concentration of Baroque Music.
- To the FMM is associated the Centre for Research on Musical traditions, an entity that centralizes all FMM research activities.
- The UA Center for Early Music (CEM) is a sub-unit of the FMM dedicated to ancient music from Europe and the Mediterranean, and in particular, to music from antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the Baroque period. These musical traditions, reflecting the essential historical exchanges between the shores of the Mediterranean, are approached from the triple point of view of research on interpretation (historically informed musical performance), teaching, and organizing public musical events.
- The FMM has 2 geographic areas dedicated to education: at the Hadat–Baabda Main Campus and the Mejdlaya–Zgharta Campus.
- The FMM acts in synergy with the other musical bodies of the UA, such as the Antonine School of Music (ASM), the UA Choir, the UA Arab Classical Music Ensemble, and the UA Chamber Music Season.
