  • Kick Off the 5th Chamber Music Season at UA

    08 October 2018

Antonine University inaugurated its fifth Chamber Music Season in Our Lady of Seeds Chapel, at the main campus of Hadat-Babbda. A crowd of music lovers and political, diplomatic, media, and social figures were present to admire the exceptional talent of the French classical pianist, Lise de la Salle, winner of several international competitions. It was La salle’s first performance in Lebanon.
On this occasion, Father Toufic Maatouk, artistic director, welcomed the audience during his speech and talked about the upcoming concerts for this new season.
Entitled "Bach Unlimited", the evening was structured around a collection of singular works on the theme of Johann Sebastian Bach.
The pianist captivated her audience with her sublime interpretation of the "Italian Concerto". A virtuoso artist with agile and soaring fingers followed her flamboyant performance with beautiful scores where composers such as Liszt, Kempff, Busoni, and Roussel paid tribute to the great German composer, through several processes such as the "prelude and fugue" form or the transcription from the letters B-A-C-H, the Sicilian or Chaconne.
The next concert will take place on 15 November at 8:00 PM at Antonine University and will feature the soprano Sunhae Im, the pianist Eric Le Sage, and the clarinetist Mariam Adam.
