  • UA Nursing Students Champion Breast Cancer Awareness at Pinky Promise 2026

    22 October 2026

In a demonstration of solidarity, compassion, and community engagement, students from the Department of Nursing Sciences (DNS) at Antonine University (UA) participated in Pinky Promise 2026, organized by the Barbara Nassar Association on October 17, at Forum de Beyrouth, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Raising Awareness Through Education and Engagement

At the heart of the DNS students’ participation was an interactive awareness booth, designed and animated by the students themselves. Through educational activities, informative resources, and engaging conversations, they shared essential information about breast cancer awareness, screening, early detection, and preventive health practices.

Their enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication transformed the booth into a welcoming space where visitors could ask questions, exchange experiences, and gain valuable health information.

The activity also gave students the opportunity to bring their academic knowledge into a community setting, strengthening their communication and health education skills while encouraging visitors to make informed decisions about their health.

Walking Together in Hope and Solidarity

Beyond the booth, DNS students joined the “Marche Rose,” walking alongside breast cancer survivors, families, and supporters to express solidarity, spread hope, and honor those affected by the disease.

Their participation also reflected an essential dimension of nursing care: going beyond medical treatment to listen, support, educate, and accompany others with empathy and compassion.

    Connecting Knowledge With Community Well-Being

By bringing health education directly to the public, this initiative reflected UA’s commitment to experiential learning, community engagement, and social responsibility, while empowering future nurses to contribute positively to the health and well-being of their communities.

It also contributed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being.

For the students, Pinky Promise 2026 offered an opportunity to connect academic learning with real community needs and to experience first-hand how nursing knowledge can extend beyond clinical settings through awareness, education, and human connection.
