The U.S. Embassy in Beirut is pleased to announce the opening of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program competition for the 2027–28 academic cycle.
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State through the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, the Fulbright Program enables Lebanese students to pursue graduate-level studies in the United States. The award supports up to two academic years of study, beginning in August 2027.
The scholarship covers round-trip airfare, tuition and fees, books, health insurance, and housing, allowing students to focus fully on their academic and professional development.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Lebanese citizen or permanent resident, holding a Lebanese passport or a Special Travel Document for Palestinian Refugees issued by the Lebanese government.
- Not be a U.S. citizen or U.S. legal permanent resident.
- Reside in Lebanon throughout the entire application, selection, nomination, and placement process.
- Hold a U.S.-equivalent bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by the program start date.
- Have a strong academic record.
- For MBA applicants, have at least two years of professional work experience by May 2026.
- Demonstrate English language proficiency, or be eligible to attend a Long-Term English (LTE) program prior to enrollment. Recommended minimum scores:
- TOEFL iBT: 80
- IELTS: 5
- Duolingo English Test: 120
- Preference is given to applicants with little or no prior study or living experience in the United States.
Fields of Study
- Applicants may apply to most academic disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, science, technology, and engineering.
- Clinical programs (such as medicine and clinical nursing) are not permitted.
- Non-clinical programs, including public health and nursing administration, are permitted.

Required Application Documents
- Official academic transcripts and certified English translations (if applicable).
- English language test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo), if available.
- A current résumé or CV detailing academic and professional experience.
- Three letters of recommendation, submitted online:
- Letters must be in English or accompanied by certified translations.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to request letters at least one month before the deadline.
- A personal statement (maximum 600 words, in English).
- A study/research objectives statement related to the proposed field of study.
- A copy of the passport (if available).
