The Faculties and Departments Councils are advisory bodies whose mission encompasses several key dimensions. They support the deans, as well as the heads and chairs of departments, in fulfilling their academic and administrative duties, and play a central role in determining the courses offered within their respective units. Each Council also evaluates requests for course equivalencies that may affect admissions, promotes cultural and scientific activities, and encourages its members to take part in academic seminars and webinars.
At the pedagogical level, each Council is responsible for fostering quality teaching and learning within its faculty or department, ensuring that faculty members adopt innovative teaching methods, and identifying areas for improvement that enhance institutional performance in alignment with the University’s strategic goals. The Councils also emphasize collegiality among faculty members, encouraging the exchange of diverse perspectives that enrich academic discussions.
Structurally, each Council is chaired by the dean of the faculty or the head of the department and includes ex officio members, namely the dean and/or heads of departments, as well as full-time faculty members appointed by the deans and a representative of part-time faculty members elected to serve on the Council.
Meetings are held regularly, at least once a month, according to a schedule established at the beginning of the academic year.
